Controlotron vs ultrasonic (other clamp-on and insert type) flowmeters:

Other ultrasonic flowmeters use transducers with fixed frequencies, which experience cancellation as they transmit through the pipe wall of a mismatched frequency. Since the pipe wall acts as an obstacle to the beam, insert type flowmeters are popular as the beams are transmitted without passing through the pipe wall. However, insert type sensors require many paths as the beams are small and sample a small percentage of flow volume. Insert type sensors are also inline type, requiring downtime.

1010P,WP Portable Flow Survey Flowmeters

System 1010's Portable Meters are packaged for the rugged industrial environments common to flowmetering applications. Both 1010P and submersible 1010WP are equipped with alphanumeric display characters 1-1/8” (28.6mm) high. This allows the user to work hands-free and see meter readings from up to 40 feet (12 meters).

Model 1010WP, with protective door, is designed for heavy industrial use.    This includes operation in inclement weather and in locations subject to flooding, such as pits and vaults. All accessories needed for fast installation in the field are carried in one small soft carry case.

Model 1010P is the smallest and lightest of the Portable 1010 family. Its EasyTilt™ carry handle can be used to set the display at any convenient viewing angle. 1010P is designed primarily for use in light industrial environments.  This model can temporarily replace any type of dedicated flowmeter that may be out of service for repair or recalibration. 

Both models support all standard and optional 1010 functions and provide 4 hours of normal operation using the internal SmartCharge™ battery.

The 1010N permanent flowmeter provides accurate, non-intrusive mass and volumetric flowmetering. Simple to install, it provides the highest reliability without expensive pipeline cutting or interrupting operations during installation.Multifunction capability is provided by 1010’s advanced field programmable Gate Array technology. Each channel supports Clamp-On Transit-Time, or optional Reflexor (Fast Fourier Transform Doppler) operation. 1010N flowmeters use Wide-Beam™ transducer technology to sense flow rate to assure consistent calibration. All industry standard analog and digital data output formats are provided; compliance with CE EMI/RFI specs is assured. The digital display is easily visible from 40 feet away.The System 1010N flow meter is available in Single, Dual and Four Channel and/or Four Path versions. Choose either stainless steel chain or strap mount.

1010E - Portable and Dedicated Thermal Energy Flowmeters for the HVAC Industry

1010E is the successor to Controlotron’s award winning transit time Series 990E Energy Flowmeters. Technical advancements provide the ultimate in thermal energy custody transfer performance. It is available in a rugged high precision clamp-on or clamp-on spool. The flowmeter simply attaches to the outside of any pipe. It immediately monitors and trends the energy consumption of liquid thermal energy applications at any flow rate.System 1010E is intended for high precision custody transfer or efficiency optimization of thermal energy production and for use in both chilled and hot water HVAC installations. It is available for ¼” - 360” (6mm – 9000mm) diameter pipes. It provides all industry standard analog/digital data outputs and has a large backlit LCD digital graphics data display. Single and dual channel models are available in both portable and dedicated NEMA 4X models. Dual channel models can be configured to measure two different pipes including convoluted piping configurations. As a stand-alone thermal energy meter, System 1010E can become a remote communication module.

1010DV - Field Proved Clamp-On Custody Transfer & Check-Metering Mass Flowmeters

System 1010DV is an ideal flowmeter for pipelines carrying crude oil, refined petroleum or liquefied gas. It is easily installed in the field, using precision clamp-on wide beam transit-time ultrasonic transducers, which are available in three degrees of precision.Suitable for custody transfer or check-metering, the 1010DV can be upgraded for 1010LDV leak detection systems. Clamp-on transducers are fully protected from accidental disturbance or damage.Actual and standard volume as well as mass flow are measured and displayed with output in RS232, pulse rate, 0-10 volt and 4-20 ma format. Liquid type and quality flowing in each batch is reported. Communication protocols can be provided for customer or Controlotron-supplied networks. An internal 1-MB datalogger stores system operation and condition diagnostics.Dual, four, six or eight path, NEMA 4X (Division 2) and NEMA 7 (Division 1) systems are available, depending on required performance and installation conditions.

1010LD - Leak Detection
1010LD - Turnkey Pipeline Leak Detection & Location Systems

The 1010LD provides leak detection on pipeline segments as long as 100 miles and is based on actual mass flow balance rather than mathematical modeling. It is essentially free from false alarms and is recognized for its extreme sensitivity and timeliness of leak alarm. In addition to leak detection, the 1010LD has the ability to locate the leak to within 10 meters, depending on the pipeline segment length and operating conditions.Major features of the 1010LD system include Batch Tracking, Interface Detection and Pig Tracking, which are standard with each software package. The system’s ability to distinguish line pack events from apparent leaks assures almost no false alarms and safe, efficient operation of pipelines.
Controlotron offers an all-inclusive, single vendor turnkey Leak Detection solution. This solution includes all necessary instrumentation, software, Engineering Services, and variety of communication protocols for proper system integration.

1010S - SonicMass™ Liquid Spool Custody Transfer Flowmeter

The 1010S is designed for operation in hydrocarbon pipelines delivering crude oil, refined petroleum or liquefied gas. This system is similar to the 1010DV field installed model except that the transducers are already installed on a spool. The system is pre-calibrated and is designed for “out of the box” operation. Installation is simple and cost effective because no site set-up is required.The clamp-on device is optionally equipped with an integral flow Profiler™ spool that permits installation even in limited run locations while maintaining factory calibrated accuracy. It can also be equipped with a variety of communication protocols for operation in a customer network or Controlotron supplied network. Available pipe sizes range from 2” to 48 “ for extensive applicability.The 1010S is available as a Dual, Four, Six or Eight Path system depending on required system performance and application conditions. This system is suitable for use in Class I, Division 1 or 2 hazardous areas.

The 1010FT is ideal for non-intrusive installation in process lines. It can measure the low flow of a variety of liquids for typical chemical feed or injection applications in tube sizes from ¼” to 1” (6mm – 25mm) O.D.A fully enclosed system is provided with a choice of connections: flanges, compression seals, threaded, tri-clover and weld ends.Flow tubes are available in 316 stainless steel, CPVC, PVDF Kynar or Teflon. Extremely high turndown ratio is provided with flow rates as low as 1 gallon/minute possible. All meters are subject to actual flow calibration before delivery to insure overall accuracy. The 1010AER transit time flowmeter is used for in-place testing of critical fluid flow. The 1010B system is a temperature and pressure compensated interface detector. Easy clamp-on operation makes this product suitable for new construction, existing pipeline installation and replacement of in-line Densitometers. This device can be installed quickly; no pipeline cutting is necessary.The 1010B is designed primarily for non-intrusive, real-time interface detection of crude oils, liquefied gases, multi-product transportation, and inter-refinery pipelines. The system determines and displays the density and temperature of the liquid batch arriving at a terminal which identifies the product allowed for flowing into appropriate tankage. Its ability to detect excess water and presence of aeration in all products adds value to the system. The results display in API, Liquident™ (product identification number), Specific Gravity or Density Units.The 1010B clamp-on interface detector can be used with pipes ranging from 1” to 54” in diameter. It is available in both NEMA 4X and NEMA 7 models with appropriate safety approvals. A Dual Channel model provides additional cost savings by permitting operation of two pipelines simultaneously.

1010G - Pre-Calibrated Natural Gas Custody Transfer & Check-Metering Spool Flowmeters

The 1010G is a wetted transducer ultrasonic system. This is ideal for measurement of gas flow at low line pressure, less than 9 Bar in steel pipe or below 2 Bar in plastic pipe (AGA-9 standard).1010G operation and function is identical to field-installed model 1010GC. It provides flow rate and total flow in actual volume. When provided with temperature and pressure sensors, standard volume (mass) totals per AGA-8 are displayed. Sonic analysis of the type and quality of gas that flows in each batch is also reported. The system uses Wide-Beam™ transducer technology which assures consistent calibration even with variable gas qualities, including wet gas. A variety of communication protocols are available for participation in a customer network or Controlotron supplied network.Dual, Four, Six or Eight Path systems are available dependent on required system performance and installation conditions. It is provided as a NEMA 4X system, to DIV 2 safety standards or as a NEMA 7 system to DIV 1 standards.
