- Approved for sanitary service.
- Magnetic flippers or continuous follower.
- All floats with 360 Deg. concentric magnet assembly .
Description:
The float chamber is basically a column of 2-1/2 inch pipe with process connections to match those of the storage tank, reactor, or other equipment where level is to be measured. These connections may be side couplings or flanges, or top and bottom flanges. The magnetic float moves up and down inside the chamber as the process level changes.
Float type is determined by the process fluid, light enough to maintain buoyancy and have properties that allow it to withstand the temperature and pressure combination. Contained inside the sealed float is a 360 deg. magnet assembly. The indicator tube and scale assembly are attached to the float chamber (standard scale is in feet and inches). The indicator tube is available in polycarbonate or glass (temperature limit on polycarbonate is 250 deg. F).
Principle of Operation:
Inside the indicator tube is a lightweight magnetized indicator or series of metallic flags. The indicator is magnetically coupled to the float and moves up and down with the liquid level. The indicator allows the operator to read the level from more than 100 feet away. The only moving parts are the float and the indicator.

LTM Series Magnetostrictive Transmitters
- The only Magneto with registered DD’s for Hart and Foundation Fieldbus to IEC-61804-2
- Hart (Rev. 5.0), FF (ITK 4.6), AMS Aware, FISCO, FNICO
- Sensor trim from anywhere in the loop with HART
- Measure Level, Interface and Temperature simultaneously
- User friendly setup via self-promting menus
- Continuous monitoring of instrument health via HART
- Ideal for High Temp/Hi Pressure, Corrosive or “Dirty” service
Magtech’s LTM Series Magnetostrictive Level Transmitters are highly accurate, precise, and offer a variety of configuration options. The LTM may be utilized as a direct insertion transmitter or externally mounted to a Magnetic Level Gauge for non-invasive level control. The LTM sensor probe with magnetic fl oat(s) is inserted directly into a tank. As the float rises or falls with the fluid, the transmitter provides level output. LTM’s are available with two-wire loop powered 4-20 mA signal output(s), or bus powered (fieldbus) with digital signal output(s).

LT-1 Series Analog Reed Type Transmitters
- Magtech's LT-1 Level Transmitter has been redesigned for optimum performance and utilization.
- Linearized 4/20 mA Output
- Field Reversible 4/20 mA Output
- Field Reversible Unit (allows entire transmitter to be top or bottom mounted)
The LT-1 Level Transmitter is designed for use with the LG Series Level gage to provide a 4-20 mA control signal proportional to level. The transmitter mounts externally to the gage chamber and consists of a sensor tube made up of a series of resistors and magnetically operated reed switches. There is a switch and resistor every 1/2 inch along the length of the sensor tube (1/4 inch resolution option is available.) The circuit board containing the resistors and switches may be the same length as the measured range or any portion thereof. The sensor circuit is housed in the stainless steel sensor tube. This housing is rated for Class 1, Division 1, Groups B, C & D hazardous areas. The LT-1 assembly may be made intrinsically safe by remote mounting of the transmitter in a safe area and operating the sensor through an approved safety barrier. As the magnetic float inside the gage chamber rises with increasing fluid level, the switches close, thereby changing the resistance in the circuit. A 2-wire, loop powered transmitter converts this resistance change to a 4-20 mA current signal corresponding to fluid level. Resolution of the transmitter is 1/2 inch or 1/4 inch (proportional to the spacing of the sensor switches). _________________________________________________________________________________ |

MLS Series Non-Invasive Level Switches
MLS-3, MLS-3Ex Level Switches
Description: The MLS-3 and MLS-3Ex are electrically the same. The Ex version comes with an explosion-proof housing with terminal block. The MLS-3 switch is a hermetically sealed BI-Stable latching reed switch with SPDT Form C contacts. The switch is actuated by the float and latches, thus maintaining the contact after the float continues to rise or fall with level. The MLS-3 is best suited for low power alarm signals.
MLS-5Ex and 10Ex Series Level Switches NOTE: These switches require power .
Description: The MLS-5Ex and MLS-10Ex-R switches come in explosion-proof housing (same as MLS-3Ex) with terminals and hermetically sealed relays rated for 5 and 10 Amp, 2 Form C, DPDT contacts. The relay is actuated by the float and latches, thus maintaining the contact after the float continues to rise or fall with the level. These are best suited for alarm signals or pumps.
PS-2 / PS-2H Pneumatic Level Switches
Description: The PS-2 is a pneumatic switch designed to control air and natural gas from 15 to 100 psi. The PS-2 is rotary cam activated and incorporates a non-bleed switch. When the float passes, the cam rotates and latches the switch in the open position. This will allow unobstructed airflow. When the float moves back in the opposite direction the switch unlatches and blocks the airflow. The nobleed design of the PS-2 makes it ideal for controlling applications requiring natural gas. The PS-2 can also be used to control pneumatic alarms, pumps and valves.
Note: MLS-3, MLS-3EX, MLS-5EX, MLS-10EX, and PS-2 are to be mounted to the side of Magtech level gauges, and have adjustable set points.

Whether tubular, reflex, or transparent, all sight glasses have common problems associated with visibility, maintenance, safety, etc.
|
The Magtech Advantage |
Sight Glasses |
Visibility |
Continuous, Highly Visible
- No liquid inside indicator |
Coating, plating, or etching; colorless liquids unreadable;
No continuous visibility due to segmented construction |
Installation -
Start-up |
Simplified engineering design;(custom built to length of vessel), no segments less piping and field fabrication;
Easier start-up, no torquing or retorqueing to stop leaks |
Segmented construction required with extensive piping & bridles, valves, extra nozzles, etc.;
Torquing of bolts required for each section of glass |
Maintenance |
Easy blow-down or flush of gage chamber;
No disassembly required,
No spare parts |
Regular cleaning requiring dismount and retorque; high temp and pressure increase downtime;spare parts required:gaskets, glass, etc. |
Safety -
Environmental |
Fewer potential leak paths for fugitive emissions;
