Real-time measuring results are essential to optimize and control sugar quality and an efficient production process. With more than a thousand installations worldwide, the microwave analyser MicroPolar Brix has proven to work reliably and accurately.

MicroPolar Brix is available with various sensors for installation on vessels (e.g. crystallizer) or pipelines. The high energy version, the MicroPolar++ provides accuracy for larger diameter pipelines.

MicroPolar is our latest online moisture analyser, using state-of-the-art microwave transmission technology. The moisture measurement is noncontact, either across a conveyor belt or chute.

As there is no contact with the measured material, the sensors are not subject to any wear and tear and maintenance is not required.

LB 567 System Highlights

The LB 567 is designed for applications with constant measuring conditions (e.g. constant particle size, bulk density etc.). The measurement is carried out without the need for radiometric compensation. With a height sensor, the system compensates for varying bulk heights on the conveyor belt. For more demanding applications however, we recommend the use of the MicroPolar Moist LB 568.

LB 568 System Highlights

The moisture measurement analyser MicroPolar Moist LB 568 is used when the product bulk density varies. In addition to the moisture measurement with microwave technology, the system also uses a radiometric source and detector to measure the area weight (mass per unit area). This combination, allows the microwave moisture signal to be compensated for changes in bulk density, resulting in significantly improved measurement accuracy.

Berthold LB 350 Radiometric Online Moisture Analysers,

The moisture online analyser LB 350 is primarily used for applications which can’t be solved with conventional sensor technologies due to conductivity or particular chemical properties of the material to be measured.

The LB 350 moisture measurement system is for real-time determination of the moisture content of a wide variety of bulk materials such as coke, sinter mixture, ore, sand, building materials, and is used on many different types of vessels.

LB 350 Neutron Moisture Measurement Manual

Neutron moisture measurement is a proven technology with a long track record of success for moisture measurement on bulk materials; it functions where most other moisture measurement technologies fail for various reasons. The measuring a volume with diameter of up to one meter ensures a representative measured value. Once the system has been installed and calibrated, it can be left alone for several years providing reliable moisture monitoring of bulk products. The LB 350 also be equipped with bulk density compensation. Bulk density compensation increases the accuracy of the moisture measurement if the bulk density of the product fluctuates.

Surface-Moisture-Measurement

The surface probe is mounted directly on the outer wall of a bunker. It is cabable of measuring through steel walls up to 20 mm thick. However, the best measuring accuracy is achieved by using our mounting frame, which is installed in an opening in the wall. The mounting frame is extremely robust due to the wear-resistant ceramic surface and allows for quick and easy probe installation

Bunker probe

The probe is mounted in a dip pipe made from steel or ceramics. Typically this dip pipe is inserted in the outlet section of the bunker, so that the probe is fully surrounded by bulk material. Due to the optimum position of the probe inside the material flow, a highly representative measurement is achieved.

Dip pipe with bunker or surface probe

The probe is mounted in a dip pipe, closed at the bottom end, which is installed into the tank at an angle of approx. 30 - 45° to the horizontal. Ideally, the wall thickness of the dip pipe should be between 3 to 5 mm to minimise signal attenuation at the detector. (The signal is reduced by about 5 % per each 1 mm of steel.) We recommend using a hardened dip pipe, or a dip pipe with ceramic jacket, to ensure a long life time, even when working with abrasive products.The dip pipe is available in 3 lengths.

The surface moisture measurement system should be used when the dip pipe for the bunker probe is subject to a high level of abrasion from falling product or when the product may fall directly onto the dip pipe.
