Hitrol Level and Flow Instruments

Level Transmitter

A level transmitter offered by Hitrol, is an instrument designed to measure the level of liquids or solids within tanks or containers. It provides continuous level measurement and transmits this information to a control system for monitoring and operational control.

Hitrol’s level transmitters utilize various technologies. One method is ultrasonic technology, which employs sound waves to measure the distance to the liquid surface, ensuring accurate level readings. Another approach is uses capacitance technology measures the level of liquids or solids based on changes in capacitance providing reliable measurements even in challenging conditions. Additionally, hydrostatic pressure measurement calculates the level by assessing the pressure exerted by the liquid column above the sensor.
These level transmitters are engineered for accuracy and reliability, making them suitable for a wide range of industrial applications.

The principle of capacitive level measurement relies on the change in capacitance of a capacitor formed by the probe and the tank wall, where the capacitance varies based on the amount of product in the tank—an empty tank has lower capacitance, while a filled tank exhibits higher capacitance.

The HT/HPC-100CT Series is a detachable water level transmitter installed on top of a tank, designed to continuously measure the height of the liquid contents using the dielectric constant and convert this measurement into an output signal of DC 4–20 mA. Depending on the application, it is available in standard versions (HT-100CT Series) and explosion-proof versions (HPC-100CT Series).

More details

The HT-100F Series is a versatile and practical solution for level measurement.  Its continuous monitoring capability and 4-20 mA output make it compatible with many industrial systems. The ease of installation and adjustment is definitely a plus, especially in applications like water, oil, and water treatment.

Principle of Product Measurement using Float:
The HT-100F Series operates based on the principle of buoyancy. As the float moves up and down with the liquid level, it pulls a wire that is wound around a wire drum, which is controlled by a constant spring. The rotation of this wire drum is transmitted to a gear system, causing the indicator pointer to move. A magnet built into the indicator pointer activates a reed switch, which changes the resistance value. This change in resistance is then converted into a DC 4-20 mA current signal by an R/I converter housed within the unit.

The HT-100R Series is a float-type level transmitter designed for continuous measurement of water levels in containers using the principle of buoyancy. Its user-friendly installation and adjustment make it suitable for a wide range of industrial applications, including water, oil, aqueous solutions, liquefied gases (such as LNG and LPG), and chemicals. This versatility allows it to be effectively utilized across various sectors.

Principle of Product Measurement using Magnetic Float type:

When the float in the HT-100R Series moves up and down alongside the liquid surface due to buoyancy, the magnet inside the float activates a reed switch located within the guide pipe. This activation changes the resistance value. The modified resistance value is then converted into a DC current signal ranging from 4 to 20 mA by an R/I converter housed inside the unit, which outputs this signal for monitoring and control purposes.

The HT-100M Series is a magnetostrictive type level transmitter that provides continuous measurement of water levels inside containers using the principle of buoyancy. Its design allows for easy installation and adjustment, making it suitable for a wide range of industrial applications. This includes use in sectors such as water, oil, aqueous solutions, liquefied gases (like LNG and LPG), and chemicals. Its versatility ensures it can effectively meet the needs of various industries.

Principle of Product Measurement using Magnetorestrictive:
When the float in the HT-100M Series moves up and down with the liquid surface due to buoyancy, the magnet embedded in the float generates a distortion in the pulse traveling along the magnetostrictive wire inside the guide pipe. The module (M-100MD) housed within the unit detects the round trip time of this distortion. Based on this measurement, it continuously outputs a current value ranging from DC 4 to 20 mA.

The HT-100P Series is an integrated water level transmitter designed for installation on the top or side of a tank. It continuously measures the hydrostatic pressure of the contents and converts this measurement into an output signal of DC 4 to 20 mA. This versatility allows it to be installed and used in various locations without the need for special construction. Applications include PC tanks, dam surge tanks, spillways, drainage basins, sewage channels, and rivers.

Principle of Product Measurement using Hydrostatic Pressure according to the Liquid level.
The HT-100P Series is a sensor that continuously measures hydrostatic pressure in relation to the liquid level. The relationship can be described by the formula:
Pressure = Specific gravity x Gravitational acceleration x Liquid height (water level)
From this formula, it's clear that if the specific gravity of the liquid remains constant, any change in water level will be directly proportional to the change in pressure. Therefore, the water level can be accurately detected by measuring the displacement of pressure.

The HTML-TM is a thermal diffusion type multi-point water level measuring instrument designed to measure the water level or height of a suspended liquid using a specialized level element. This technology allows for precise and reliable monitoring of liquid levels across multiple points, making it suitable for various applications in industrial settings.

Principle of Product Measurement using Thermal Diffusion Type:
The process you described involves measuring the thermal properties of different media through the use of thermal sensors. Thermal diffusivity varies depending on the density of the media being measured, leading to a temperature difference (?T) between the Reference Sensor and the Active Sensor. This temperature difference is then acquired as a resistance component (?R) by both sensors.
The transmitted resistance change (?R) is sent to a transmitter, which calculates the relationship between this resistance change and the density of the medium. Finally, the transmitter determines the density of the subject being measured based on these calculations.

Being an S Class product, it has successfully passed electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI) tests, ensuring reliable performance in diverse environments.

Principle of Product Measurement using Ultrasonic in HUL/HUT-2000S:
The ultrasonic level gauge is installed with a sensor positioned at the top of the storage tank. It transmits ultrasonic pulses toward the measured liquid surface. When these pulses reach the surface, they are reflected back to the sensor. The gauge measures the round trip time of these ultrasonic pulses to determine the water level, providing results in the units specified by the user.

The HT/HPC-100CT-2 Series is an integrated water level transmitter installed on top of a tank, continuously measuring the height of the tank's contents using the dielectric constant and converting it into an output signal of DC 4–20 mA. It features a built-in digital indicator for easy adjustment and direct water level information display. This product is available in standard (HT-100CT-2 Series) and explosion-proof (HPC-100CT-2 Series) types, depending on the application.

Principle of Product Measurement using Capacitance:
The principle of product measurement is based on capacitance, which is determined by the surface area of the electrode, the dielectric constant (E), and the distance between the electrodes. As the liquid level rises, the air or gas surrounding the electrode is replaced by a different dielectric, causing a change in capacitance that is detected and converted into a proportional output signal of DC 4–20 mA.
