Turbine Flowmeters

Turbine flow meters harness the mechanical energy of liquids to rotate a rotor within the flow stream, where the rotational speed directly correlates to the fluid velocity. These meters are widely used across industries to consistently measure liquids, gases, and vapors. The information provided emphasizes the robust and high-performance nature of Liquid and Gas Turbine Meters, available in various materials and accuracies to ensure reliable operation and maximum availability.

Gas Turbine Meters excel in measuring gas streams devoid of liquids, offering exceptional measurement performance and economic efficiency. They are designed to efficiently measure various gases, provided the gas stream meets specific chemical compatibility and cleanliness criteria. Sensia offers three gas turbine options, including the BARTON Series 7400* gas turbine flowmeter and NUFLO* measurement technologies in 2-in wafer and ball-bearing designs.

Liquid Turbine Meters, with their straightforward design and durability, combine cost efficiency with enduring measurement performance. The BARTON Series 7000 Liquid Turbine Flow Meters are highlighted as an ideal match for electronic output devices, eliminating the need for A/D conversion.

The BARTON Series 7400 Gas Turbine Flow Meters are tailored for gas applications across various industrial, commercial, pipeline, and aerospace settings. The output from the pickup coil being digital is a notable feature.

Specifically for the BARTON 7400 Series Gas Turbine Flow Meters, the rotor response is in milliseconds, ensuring accurate metering even in swiftly changing flow pattern scenarios.

NUFLO technology encompasses solutions that offer consistent and reliable gas flow measurement even in a 2-inch nominal pipe size, showcasing precision in gas flow monitoring.

The NuFlo 2-in. Gas Flowmeter is a turbine flowmeter enclosed within an insert element positioned between two raised-face flanges. Continuous stud bolts tighten the flanges against the housing element, with gaskets on the flange faces and meter body enhancing the seal's integrity. Bolts, nuts, and gaskets can be obtained as part of an optional hardware installation kit, easing setup and maintenance.

All internal components—the rotor and shaft assembly, bearings, and setscrews—are contained within a cartridge inside the meter. Three different cartridges are available to accommodate high, standard, and low flow ranges.

An electromagnetic pickup screwed into the receptacle on the side of the meter produces the output signal.

The NUFLO technology ball-bearing gas turbine flowmeter is crafted for precise high-pressure measurement applications, particularly for carbon dioxide or nitrogen usage in oil and gas well stimulation operations.

As long as the minimum flowing density criteria are fulfilled, this flowmeter can effectively handle a wide range of gases or clean liquids. It's important to note that the fluid should solely be a liquid or gas and not a combination of both simultaneously.

Customers have the liberty to choose attributes such as fluid type, end connection type, and other preferences, providing a tailored solution that caters to their unique application needs

NUFLO 1502 WECO Union Liquid Turbine Flow Meter. This meter appears to be well-suited for the demanding conditions of the oilfield environment, with features like a tungsten carbide shaft and bearings to ensure durability and measurement integrity even in harsh settings. Its ability to indicate flow rate and measure total throughput of a liquid line could be valuable for various applications. The description of how the meter operates by using a rotor and magnetic pickup to generate electrical signals for flow measurement readout equipment is quite insightful. Additionally, the optional rotor configurations and finishes that enable the meter to handle erosive or corrosive fluids further highlight its versatility.

More details

In 1957, our first flowmeter was developed for use in oilfield applications, featuring a tungsten-carbide shaft and bearing to endure the challenging conditions of the oilfield environment. Over time, this flow meter has gained an exceptional reputation for its resilience under harsh conditions while upholding operational and measurement integrity.

The NUFLO LT standard piping liquid turbine flowmeters are utilized to display flow rate and calculate the total liquid throughput in a pipeline. As the liquid moves through the meter and passes over the rotor, the rotor revolves at a speed directly correlated to the flow rate. A magnetic pickup detects the rotor blades as they pass, generating an electrical (sine wave) signal. These electrical pulses are then conveyed to the flow measurement display equipment.
